Fall Festival

Our annual Fall Festival is right around the corner and in order to make this a very successful event we need your help.

Committee Meeting.
The next meeting will be Friday, October 4, 2013 at 8:45am in the cafeteria.  Anyone interested in volunteering is invited to attend.

Face Painter Needed.  Do you have experience face painting? Are you creative? Do you know someone who does and may be able to donate face painting services for our fall festival?  Contact Katherine Schain at (305) 877-4455.

Silent Auction.  In the past, our Silent Auction has been a great and fun way to raise funds for our school and this is where you come in!  Many of you have great contacts in the community that may be willing to donate something for Silent Auction such as a dinner for two to a great restaurant, perhaps a Dolphin Swim experience at the Miami Seaquarium or the donation can be something simple like theater tickets or a gift certificate for some services.  Feel free to be creative and remember make the basket something you too would be interested in bidding on!!!

All businesses that contribute to our Silent Auction will be mentioned in the E-blast and during the Fall Festival.  Contributions/donations are tax deductible so make sure to pass along the information below when asking for the donation! If you would like a drafted letter to send to someone you think may want to make a Silent Auction Donation please contact Maria Tomczak at tomczakj@belolsouth.net.

Baskets.  We have already started receiving great items and are in need of fillers for these baskets.  Click here to view a list of the items already donated with suggested filler ideas.  If you would like to donate fillers, please send them in and address the bag or envelope to Maria Tomczak - SILENT AUCTION.

Media Center News

We would like to thank Mr. Bautista and Ricky James for providing the muscle on the last day of the Scholastic Book Fair as we packed up all the books and carts!  You worked hard and helped us finish with record speed. Thanks again to ALL the volunteers!

Students will start to notice new magazines trickling in to the library.  This is thanks to a Vineland student!  Last year 5th grader Isabella Martinez from Ms. Calero's class noticed that many of the library's magazines were outdated.  When she mentioned this, I explained that the subscriptions had expired and money was tight to renew them.  She first asked if she could donate some of her American Girl magazines which are very popular and are quickly checked out.  She then got her parents involved and asked if they could donate a subscription of American Girl to the library.  Imagine my surprise when I received a generous donation to buy not just American Girl but Sports Illustrated Kids, National Geographic Kids and 4 others!  Isabella is now in 6th grade at Vineland and her gift to the library will continue on.

Thank you, Isabella, for quietly fixing a problem for all the Vineland students!  You deserve these accolades.

Thank you,
Mrs.Coomes
