Scholastic Book Fair

The book fair was a great success.  If you are not able to stop by or still wanted some additional books you can still shop online through March 22 at the link below

All online orders ship for FREE to the school, after the Online Fair has ended. ONLINE  Share the online link with out of town relatives and the books get delivered for free to our school!  Don't forget to look for your teacher's online Wish List and add a book or two to your order for their classroom library. Click on the Classroom Wish List tab to see if your teacher is participating.

Vineland will be having their Field Day for the following classes on these dates:



      March 17              Grade 2    9am - 11am
                                 Grade 3    noon - 2:30pm  

      March 18              Grade 4    9am - 11am
                                 Grade 5    noon - 2:30pm  

      March 19              Pre-K & Kindergarten
                                 8:45am - 10:25am
                                 Grade 1   11:30am - 1:30pm



Upper Academy News



Registration is now open for college tours with the College Tour Institute.  The Florida Tour is open to 6th - 10th graders. Students visit seven Florida Colleges.  Mid Atlantic tour is open to 7th - 11th graders.  They visit seven colleges throughout the Mid Atlantic during the week.  Click here to view flyer with detailed information about tours.

We had an amazing "BOOK FAIR FIESTA" this week.

I want to THANK Marlene Christophers and Lynne Coomes for chairing our amazing book fair this year. You have dedicated many hours to this event and it is greatly appreciated. We were able to provide our library with some new and wonderful books. I would also like to THANK , Leslie Sanders and Joanna Bascuas for agreeing to take on the book fair for next year.  Good luck ladies.


Our successful Scholastic Book Fair was possible because of our wonderful Vineland parent volunteers. Whether it was set up, breakdown or sometime in between you were greatly appreciated.

Great Kindness Week

Thank you VK8 for participating in this week of good deeds. There were more smiles, more helping, more compliments, more hugs, and more manners this week than ever.

Career Day Speakers Needed

Vineland K-8 Center will host our annual Career Day on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon. Career Day is designed to expose students to various careers through interactive and/or hands-on demonstrations. We would like to invite members of your company or organization to participate in this event by serving as guest speakers who will come to our school and share information, expertise, and job-related personal experiences with our students. If you, or someone you know, might be interested in participating in this event, please contact Mrs. Moreland, School Counselor, at (305) 238-7931 x2118 and complete and return the attached form. You may return the form to your child's teacher, to the main office, or fax the form to the school (attention Mrs. Moreland at 305-378-0776).

General PTA Meeting all PTA members!!

You are all invited to a Special General PTA meeting on Thursday, April 3rd.  It will be held at 8:45 a.m. in the Upper Academy cafeteria.  At this meeting we will select the nominating committee for next year's board, and we will also amend our budget slightly to best put the PTA's funds to work this year.  Hope to see you all there!


7th Grade Immunizations


The Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County's Immunization would like to inform you that most children are due for their booster vaccine by the time they are 11 years of age.


Health Form #680 with updated TDAP (TETANUS-DIPHTHERIA-PERTUSIS) vaccine must be received by the Vineland office to allow entry into the seventh grade.

Annual Day of the Young Child 
The Day of the Young Child focuses on the mental, physical and emotional development of children from birth to eight years of age.  This event includes many organizations throughout the community offering a variety of early childhood education activities, demonstrations and information.

MASA Scholarships for Summer Camp 2014 for Gifted Grades K-8
Math, Arts, Science Achievement (MASA) is a summer program that provides opportunities for high achieving and gifted students to be in a comfortable and safe environment with like-minded peers to: comprehend, apply, explore, analyze, discover, and evaluate concepts while motivating one another.
MASA will provide one scholarship for each grade span: K-2, 3-4, and 5-8.
When: Summer Camp 2014 will take place July 7, 2014 through July 11, 2014.

Free movies at the SoundScape Cinema Series
The SoundScape Cinema Series screens free films on the 7,000-square-foot outdoor projection wall at the New World Center's ExoStage, corner of 17th Street and Washington Avenue, Miami Beach. Movies usually are at 8 p.m. on Wednesdays but there are also some films on Thursdays.
