Boosterthon Kick Off kicks off this week!!!

This year's character theme is CAMP HIGH FIVE, and it's all about FRIENDSHIP! But not just developing the friendships students already have; it's about viewing EVERYONE as a friend, no matter who they are, or how different they may first appear to be.

Friends...Respect Others, Don't Bully, Shout Out Strengths;Stick Together and Show Sportsmanship

The event will kick off with a 30-minute school-wide Pep Rally this Tuesday, January 28th and conclude on February 6th with the Boosterthon Run event.  Make sure to check out all the awesome door decorations.

Students will be getting pledges towards the number of laps they will run at the  Boosterthon Fun Run. Students will run between 30-35 laps. 35 is the lap max.

Every student participates in the Fun Run, regardless of pledges raised, and receives a daily character sticker and access to Boosterthon character resources.

This year's GIVEBACK INITIATIVE is called "HIGH FIVE MEAL DRIVE".  Every time a Boosterthon student reaches the $7 per lap prize level, Boosterthon will provide 5 meals to a family in need through FEED MIAMI.

Free Boostherton App for Apple or Android users giving students access to their music, books and videos.  Click here to download app.

Boosterthon has been our largest fundraiser the last two years.  With the funds raised from the Boosterthon we have been able to purchase Robotics equipment, televisions for classrooms, projectors on carts for the Elementary School, instruments for the Music Department, Mimeo boards for the Elementary School, kindergarten rugs, academic enhancement materials, sports equipment for PE, benches and tables, Red Ribbon Week anti-drug items, support for Office & classroom Aides.

Staff Member of the Month

Mrs. Larson is December's Staff Member of the Month.  She is perfect teacher for a student's beginning career of learning at Vineland K-8 Center.  She loves her students and in turn they love school and learning.  Every day in Pre-K is like Disneyland.  Students come out of Pre-K ready for Kindergarten and some even ready for first grade.  Mrs. Larson is also always ready to help her fellow co-workers with artsy ideas and with materials.  She is also always there for moral support as well.  She is an awesome teacher!

Calling All Water Bottles

Calling all 8oz (small) water bottles for S.W.A.T.!!!

Parents, please send in EMPTY 8oz. water bottles.  We will be using these water bottles for really spectacular and cool science experiments on S.W.A.T. night being held on February 12, 2014 from 6-8 PM.  Empty water bottles can be dropped off in the Upper Academy office and placed in the bin on top of the counter.

Thank you in advance,

Mrs. Vaccaro  & the S.W.A.T. Team

Media Center News

For all literacy supporters, I have a special offer!
We have some books remaining from our used book sale that I would like to put to good use. We have about 20 boxes of books for adults containing suspense, romance, sci-fi, self help, etc. If you know of a group who would like a box of books, please stop by the library to take one (or more.)  Suggestions such as the VA, homeless centers, senior citizen centers, Goodwill, and libraries in need of book donations have been made. If 20 people could take one box, we could move them out of the library.  You might even know of an organization who would like them all.

Thanks for helping me out and helping others with new reading material, Ms. Coomes

Recycle Electronics & Raise Money for Education

Dear Parents,
I know Santa was very generous this Christmas.  If your family found some electronic goodies under the tree and needs to recycle the old ones we have a place for them to go.  Bring your old Computers, Keyboards, LCDs, Monitors, Fax machines, Printers, Copiers, Video Game Consoles, Cameras, Laptops, Camcorders, MP3 Players, VCRs, DVDs, Cell Phones and Telephone Equipment to Vineland media center in January and we will have them picked up by SIR International Recycling.
All proceeds go to the Superintendent's Foundation For New Education Initiatives. Last year we recycled over 1,000 pounds.  We want to keep more electronics out of our landfills and raise money for education at the same time.  Go Green !

Thank you.  I wish you and your family a new year full of health and happiness.
Mrs. MacLaren, Principal
