Teacher Of The Year

http://ih.constantcontact.com/fs142/1102554956045/img/817.jpg

Ms. Dolores Donet

Ms. Donet has taught for 19 years, eight of them at Vineland K-8 Center where she was the media specialist before teaching fifth grade language arts in the gifted program. Before coming to Vineland, Ms. Donet taught at FC Martin K-8 Center, North Miami Elementary School and Morningside Elementary School. In addition to her responsibilities as a classroom teacher, Dolores continues to maintain our media center collection by ordering books, magazine subscriptions, equipment such as televisions, and Accelerated Reader licenses.

Ms. Donet serves as the Team Leader for her grade level, as well as providing valuable leadership on other committees such as the school Literacy Leadership Team, the Crisis Team, and most recently the Leadership Team for Accreditation. Dolores also supports enrichment events such as SWAT (Science with a Twist) and the Geography Bee, which she has taken over as sponsor this year. Ms. Donet is a valuable resource in our building in terms of technology support for many of the supplementary educational programs we offer.

Continuing her own educational pursuits, Dolores has a masters degree in mathematics education and a specialist degree in Teaching and Learning.  Now, while raising two beautiful little girls, Dolores has gone back again to school and is a doctoral candidate in Urban and Special Education at FIU, awaiting completion of her dissertation.

Rodriguez, Ms. Carter, Ms. Diaz.

Food Drive

Thank you to those who donated food items for the Vineland Thanksgiving Food Drive.  Fresh Market at The Falls donated 17 fresh (20 lb) turkeys.  We were able to collect over 800 items, making Thanksgiving meal boxes feeding 20 less-fortunate Vineland families in need. This could not have been possible without our generous Vineland families and local Fresh Market.

Upper Academy News

Attention Upper Academy

Because of last week's inclement weather, the 2013 Turkey Bowl is rescheduled for Friday, December 6th.

Attention Parents of 8th Grade Student

Wednesday, December 4th, all 8th graders will be attending a field trip to Miami Palmetto Senior High where they will be "Panthers for a Day." Students will leave by bus first thing in the morning, and return by lunchtime. This event provides a terrific opportunity for our student to learn more about the many curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular experiences high school has to offer. Be on the lookout for the field trip form that needs to be signed and returned.
