FCAT Testing

FCAT testing continues this week.

Please review the testing dates. It is important for your child to get plenty of rest the night before, eat a good breakfast and arrive to school on time each day.

If a student misses a session he/she will NOT be able to go on to the next session.  For example if a student misses Reading Session 1 on Wednesday he/she will NOT be able to take Session 2 the next day.  All subjects must be tested in the order assigned by the District.

If a student is absent on a day  testing is scheduled, he/she will be provided with the opportunity to make up that session during the scheduled administration period.  For example, if a student is absent during the administration of Reading, Session 1 on Wednesday, he/she would be re-scheduled to take Session 1 on their return to school.  (Note that tests with two sessions must be completed in order: Session 1 followed by Session 2.)

Do The Right Thing

APRIL 2014

Victoria Areas: 1st Grade, Ms. Diaz
Victoria is a girl who is always happy and smiling. She never complains and is always willing to share or give someone else a chance. She is a hard worker who has shown incredible improvement and growth. She enjoys helping other students when they are in need and is very friendly and compassionate to all her classmates. It is a joy to have Victoria in my class!

Zoya Duarte-Garcia: 3rd Grade, Ms. Rosen
Zoya found $20 outside the bathroom. It could have been someone with Scholastic Bookfair money. She turned it into her teacher who then gave it to the Main Office. Zoya's honesty is commendable and she deserves this reward!

Sanad Aljamal: 5th Grade, Ms. Calero / Ms. Rodriguez
Sanad has helped a new student at Vineland who comes from Syria. Sanad speaks beautiful Arabic to the student and has done some helpful translating. Sanad is happy to help and very welcoming to the student. We are fortunate to have such a kind young man like Sanad at Vineland.

Elena Castillo: 5th Grade, Ms. Donet
Elena is a very giving young lady. She is always one of the first to volunteer assistance to teachers, as well as her peers. She does everything with a smile on her face. Most recently, Elena has partnered with a first grade class to work on a gardening project. She serves her school, as well as is a role model for the younger students.

Alexandra Crespin: 5th Grade, Ms. Donet
Alexandra is the epitome of excellence. She is an outstanding student, role-model, and pianist. She is involved in several service clubs as out school, including Future Educators and Student Government. Most recently Alexandra was approached by a friend who was in a difficult social situation here at school. She counseled her friend and helped her obtain the assistance of faculty members. This, though, is not an isolated event. Alexandra is responsible beyond her years and always tackled situations with maturity and reflection.

Katelyn Stephenson: 5th Grade, Ms. Rodriguez
I accidentally left my iPhone in the restroom one afternoon. Katelyn found the phone and immediately found who it belonged to. She promptly returned the phone to me. Katelyn should be commended for her honesty and for doing the right thing!

Ali Zahaf: 5th Grade, Ms. Calero / Ms. Rodriguez
Ali has helped a new student at Vineland who comes from Syria. He speaks Arabic to the student and has done some helpful translating. Ali is happy to help. He is also very welcoming to the student.

Sophia Zaldua: 5th Grade, Ms. Donet
Sophia is a very hard-working student. Despite several challenges, she dedicates herself to her school work each day. Most recently, Sophia has partnered with a first grade class to work on a gardening project. She serves her school, as well as is a role model for the younger students.
